{"id":17458,"date":"2016-02-02T02:30:03","date_gmt":"2016-02-02T09:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.allouttabubblegum.com\/?p=17458"},"modified":"2016-02-02T02:30:03","modified_gmt":"2016-02-02T09:30:03","slug":"top-5-action-films-of-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/new-home\/top-5-action-films-of-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Top 5 Action Films Of 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a sort of counterpoint to my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allouttabubblegum.com\/?p=17455\">colleague&#8217;s argument<\/a> that 2015 was a terrible year (he seemed almost speechless about it), I&#8217;m of the mind it was one of the best of the modern age of cinema.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll admit, for Action films it was a a bit light.\u00a0 But in a year which saw the likes of <strong>Creed<\/strong>, <strong>The Martian<\/strong>, <strong>Ex Machina<\/strong>, and <strong>The Hateful Eight<\/strong>, I can honestly say things were pretty damn good.\u00a0 As for the Action genre, yeah.\u00a0 But there were still some good ones in there.\u00a0 So without further ado, here&#8217;s my list of the top five movies of the genre.<\/p>\n<h3>5. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Run All Night<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17461\" src=\"https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Run-All-Night-e1454380388303-1.jpg\" alt=\"Run All Night\" width=\"568\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Run-All-Night-e1454380388303-1.jpg 748w, https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Run-All-Night-e1454380388303-1-300x132.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 568px) 100vw, 568px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Liam Neeson continues his reign as king of the Ass-kickers Over 50 Club, this time in a low-stakes action thriller disguised as a crime drama.\u00a0 Replete with excellent performances from all the major cast (including William Hurt as another weathered old warhorse), it&#8217;s still Neeson&#8217;s show all the way through.\u00a0 Like Liam&#8217;s first <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.allouttabubblegum.com\/?p=17094\" target=\"_blank\">Taken<\/a><\/strong> film, <strong>Run All Night<\/strong> allows the big Irishman a chance to do both great acting work and also kill as many people onscreen as possible.\u00a0 If you found <strong>A Walk Among The Tombstones<\/strong> to be yawn-worthy, you&#8217;ll be pleasantly surprised by how tense this one can get.<\/p>\n<h3>4. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Furious 7<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17466\" src=\"https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Furious-7-1.jpg\" alt=\"Furious 7\" width=\"578\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Furious-7-1.jpg 644w, https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Furious-7-1-300x164.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 578px) 100vw, 578px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2015 brought us things I never even thought to hope for: Dwayne Johnson vs. Jason Statham, Ronda Rousey versus Michelle Rodriguez, and Jason Statham versus Vin Diesel.\u00a0 And we got all of these within the same movie.\u00a0 Sure, it was a bloated, cobbled-together mess of a movie stitched together after the sad and unfortunate death of Paul Walker, but it was still fun.\u00a0 It&#8217;s clear this was supposed to be a revenge\/chase film, but all that changed to pay tribute to the late PWIII.\u00a0 But you can&#8217;t argue too much against fun.<\/p>\n<h3>3. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mission: Impossible &#8211; Rogue Nation<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17467\" src=\"https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MIRN-1.jpg\" alt=\"MIRN\" width=\"605\" height=\"258\" srcset=\"https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MIRN-1.jpg 830w, https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MIRN-1-300x128.jpg 300w, https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/MIRN-1-768x328.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 605px) 100vw, 605px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There may come a day when movies no longer contain competent leading men, great stuntwork, and exciting premises.\u00a0 But it is not this day.\u00a0 Tom Cruise still rules.<\/p>\n<h3>2. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Star Wars &#8211; Episode VII: The Force Awakens<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17468\" src=\"https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Star-Wars-1.jpg\" alt=\"Star Wars\" width=\"619\" height=\"274\" srcset=\"https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Star-Wars-1.jpg 802w, https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Star-Wars-1-300x133.jpg 300w, https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Star-Wars-1-768x340.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 619px) 100vw, 619px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I have never been one to claim <strong>Star Wars<\/strong> as a huge favorite.\u00a0 And while I thought the new film was something of a retread of <strong>A New Hope<\/strong>, I would have to be pretty damn cynical to not have fun during the exhilarating dogfights, laser sword battles, actor chemistry, and Harrison Ford coming back to life for the first time in years.\u00a0 While I don&#8217;t see any cinematic reason for this to be one of the top grossing films of all time, it was still a good reason to plant my ass in a seat for a couple hours and enjoy some goofy science fiction fantasy.<\/p>\n<h3>1. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mad Max: Fury Road<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-17469\" src=\"https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Mad-Max-1.jpg\" alt=\"Mad Max\" width=\"641\" height=\"265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Mad-Max-1.jpg 856w, https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Mad-Max-1-300x124.jpg 300w, https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Mad-Max-1-768x318.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 641px) 100vw, 641px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Was it going to be anything else?\u00a0 Mad Max has always been a great series (hey, don&#8217;t you dare bash <strong>Thunderdome<\/strong>.\u00a0 It&#8217;s as memorable as it is quotable), but this absolutely solidifies it as classic.\u00a0 Tom Hardy might not be Mel Gibson, but he&#8217;s still got the goods.\u00a0 Surprisingly, it&#8217;s Charlize Theron who ends up stealing away the movie and carrying it across the finish line.\u00a0 But let&#8217;s give credit where credit is due: to 70 year old director George Miller, showing up even the <strong>Fast &amp;
