{"id":1286,"date":"2009-06-30T00:49:51","date_gmt":"2009-06-30T06:49:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.allouttabubblegum.com\/main\/?p=1286"},"modified":"2009-06-30T00:49:51","modified_gmt":"2009-06-30T06:49:51","slug":"12-pounds-of-bullshit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allouttabubblegum.com\/new-home\/12-pounds-of-bullshit\/","title":{"rendered":"12 Pounds of Bullshit"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/12Title.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/h2>\n<h2><strong><strong><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>[THE CHALK-OUTLINE]<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ffff00;\"><strong>12 Rounds (2009): Breakdown by Kain424<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>A mish-mash of the plots of <strong>Ricochet<\/strong>, <strong>Die Hard With A Vengeance<\/strong> and <strong>Speed<\/strong>, minus anything that made those films cool.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><strong><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>[THE EXECUTION]<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>How can the guy who gave us such awesome action classics as <a title=\"Die Hard 2\" href=\"http:\/\/www.allouttabubblegum.com\/main\/?p=1037\" target=\"_self\">Die Hard 2<\/a> and <strong>Cliffhanger<\/strong> possibly fuck up such an easy premise?\u00a0 I can&#8217;t be sure, but it might have something to do with horrible cinematography and the PG-13 rating.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/12Cinematography.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m fairly certain that <strong>12 Rounds<\/strong> was aiming for the PG-13 rating to begin with, as all of the cussing is offscreen (so it can be edited out more easily later and put back in for an EXTREME unrated dvd later) and the violence filmed so poorly that one cannot discern the choreography at all.\u00a0 The latter makes it so terrible that one has to take their eyes from the screen just to rest a while before returning to the movie.\u00a0 This should NEVER happen in ANY movie.\u00a0 I mean, just watch this clip:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">[flashvideo filename=videos\/12Shaky.wmv.FLV \/]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>12 Rounds rights held by Fox Atomic<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I have not edited that in any way, the movie is actually filmed like that.\u00a0 It goes on like that for the ENTIRE duration!\u00a0 Unfortunately, this filming &#8220;technique&#8221; heavily detracts from an already sub-par piece of work from a once-dependable Action director.\u00a0 Combine this with the cinematographer&#8217;s need to aim the camera directly into beams of light, and you&#8217;ve got a film that seems bent on becoming unwatchable.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/12Cinematography2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The film deprives us of crowd-pleasing moments and even emasculates the hero by giving the final line and hit to his girl.\u00a0 It&#8217;s truly sad, seeing as the plot absolutely lends itself to many possible great moments.\u00a0 For a film featuring a pro-wrestler, it&#8217;s depressing that there isn&#8217;t a single great fight sequence.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not all bad news though, as star John Cena shows remarkable improvement in his range as an actor here since <strong>The Marine<\/strong>.\u00a0 Cena exudes a kind of angry badassitude that so rarely permeates in Action films today.\u00a0 He has great promise, but if he continues to get involved in crap like this, it&#8217;ll be pro-wrestling forever or DTV land, and not in the top tier either.\u00a0 Say hello to your next co-star, Mr. Lamas.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><strong><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>[HOW BAD-ASS IS THE MAIN CHARACTER?]<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/12Cena.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ffff00;\"><strong>John Cena<\/strong> is Detective Danny Fisher<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>No one takes this guy seriously.\u00a0 Even though he looks like a huge, muscled out <strong>Marky Mark<\/strong>, Fisher takes shit from his wife, his partner, the bad guys, and the FBI.\u00a0 Any threats he makes are ignored, and it turns out that this is all completely justified when the 5&#8217;8&#8243; 120 lb. villain manages to beat the hell out of him in a helicopter.\u00a0 Danny Fisher is a wuss.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><strong><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>[THE BODY COUNT: 12]<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In the unrated version, a few of the deaths are given a bit more blood, but overall it&#8217;s pretty limp.\u00a0 Cena isn&#8217;t really responsible for any of the deaths shown in the film, while the main baddie is responsible for all of them.\u00a0 Most are offscreen, but corpses are shown later, so at least we have confirmation.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><strong><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>[MOST SATISFYING DEATH]<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Fisher&#8217;s partner, Carver, gets taken out like Jeff Daniels in <strong>Speed<\/strong>, but not before uttering the word &#8220;bitch&#8221;.\u00a0 This guy was pretty annoying for the first quarter of the film, so his was a welcome demise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allouttabubblegum.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/12Explosion.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong><strong><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>[DUDESWEAT AND MACHISMO]<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Though Fisher and Carver nag at one another a bit, they don&#8217;t seem to have that classic gay couple squabbleness like one would find in the usual buddy-cop film.\u00a0 Nothing there, really.<\/p>\n<p>We do get to see Cena play dress-up over the course of the film, first as a cop, then a firefighter, and also in casual wear.\u00a0 He refuses to go shirtless though, perhaps to further make him seem like more of a wuss.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><strong><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>[EXPLOITATION AND MISOGYNY]<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The women in this film are all gorgeous and useless.\u00a0 Sure, they all seem to be adept drivers or pilots, but are also shown to be defenseless, emotional blackmailers.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><strong><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>[EPIC MOMENT AND BEST ONE-LINER]<\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>I am really struggling to come up with an epic moment here, or at least one that I liked.\u00a0 I suppose when Cena pulls a <a title=\"Live Free or Die Hard\" href=\"http:\/\/www.allouttabubblegum.com\/main\/?p=1053\" target=\"_self\">Live Free Or Die Hard<\/a> and sends an unmanned police car into some transformers to knock out the power was pretty cool.<\/p>\n<p>As for the best one-liner, I liked it when the bad guy is sitting across from our hero on a bus, and Cena delivers, with perfect angry intensity this:<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;What&#8217;s keepin&#8217;
